Since we opened, we have had the pleasure of hosting riders from the Katy Trail Big BAM Bike Tour — an annual ride that winds through some of Missouri’s most scenic small towns.
Riders stay with us at The Mercantile on the Katy Trail, and we coordinate directly with guests and Todd White and the Big BAM shuttle team to make sure everyone’s luggage arrives ahead of time and is ready for pickup to their next destination.
Moments like these remind us why the Mercantile exists — to make the journey along the Katy Trail easier, smoother, and more memorable for every cyclist who rolls into McKittrick.
Trail-Tested Hospitality
If you’ve ever biked the Katy Trail, you know how good it feels to find a place that gets it. At The Mercantile, our suites are designed with trail riders in mind — each one includes:
Full kitchens to cook or reheat a meal after a long day of riding.
Washer and dryer in every suite so you can freshen up your gear before your next leg.
Flexible check-in and check-out to match your cycling schedule.
Easy access to the Katy Trailhead — literally steps away from your front door.
We’re proud to be a cyclist-friendly stop where comfort meets convenience — no shuttle rides across town, no unnecessary detours, just rest, recharge, and roll.
Luggage Logistics Made Simple
Cyclists have enough to think about — mileage, hydration, gear, and weather. So when it comes to luggage, we take the stress out of it.
Every cycling season since we opened, we worked directly with Todd White and the Big BAM shuttle service to coordinate early bag drop-offs and next-day pickups. Bags are safely delivered before guests even arrive, and picked up after checkout for their next stop.
Whether you’re traveling with Big BAM or planning your own independent Katy Trail adventure, we'd love to be your lodging stop along the Katy Trail in McKittrick.
Why McKittrick Makes Sense
While most people think “Hermann” when they picture a Katy Trail stay, McKittrick offers something special:
Immediate trail access without crossing highways or navigating busy streets.
Quiet nights and peaceful recovery before your next ride.
Close proximity to Hermann’s restaurants, wineries, and shuttles — just over the bridge.
You can enjoy Hermann’s energy during the day, then retreat to McKittrick’s calm at night — the best of both worlds. Let Hermann transportation pick you up and drop you off!
Local Partnerships, Local Pride
We love collaborating with local businesses and regional events like Big BAM to create smoother experiences for travelers. From shuttle coordination and local homemade meals on order, to small-town hospitality, we’re part of a growing network of Missouri destinations helping make the Katy Trail experience unforgettable.
And when you stay at The Mercantile, you’re supporting a restored 1890s landmark — a piece of McKittrick’s history brought back to life to serve modern travelers.
